Analog
Tape Transfers:
2
track, 1/2 inch, 4 track, 8 track, 16 track, and 24 track to digital wav files.
Analog tapes that were used over the last 25 years, particularly the 1980's, need to be baked in a special oven, before they can be transfered to another format such as cd, dat, or mutiltrack hard drive systems, like Pro Tools, etc. They say that only certain years of Ampex have the problem, but I have found practically every tape I transfered could use some baking. If you don't bake them, some will not rewind properly because of moisture buildup; some will slow down as they are playing; even worse the tape my get stretched, or part of the tape may come off. Since the average moisture in the air, even indoors is 50 to 60 %, it makes sense that moisture could be absorbed by the tape over time.
For baking, I charge $50.00 per load. I can get several tapes in the oven at a time. I have a special built oven, not a small incubator oven. Minimum charge is $50.00.
Transfer from tape to CD runs about $10.00 per song for 2 tracks. Please contact me if you have any further questions.
I can also transfer
from record albums, or acetates, to CD using a Bang Olufsen turntable.
I have software that can take out most of the clicks, pops, etc from records
or noise from old tapes.
